More than 24,000 job opportunities are set to benefit young people in the North West as the province ramps up efforts to tackle unemployment.
This commitment was reaffirmed during a roundtable discussion led by North West Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi and Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour, Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala. The high-level engagement, which included organized labour, business, and civil society, focused on collaborative strategies to curb rising joblessness in the province.

The employment initiative will be rolled out through the Labour Activation Plan (LAP), a partnership between the North West provincial government and the Department of Employment and Labour. Funded by the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), LAP is designed to enhance employability, promote entrepreneurship, and safeguard existing jobs through skills training, enterprise development, and other economic interventions.
