Heroes’ welcome for North West’s top learner

The community of Morokweng came out in large numbers to give a heroes’ welcome to Temogo Matong of Setswakgosing Secondary School, who represented the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District and the North West Province with distinction during the release of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results.

Ululations, songs and messages of praise filled the village as residents, family members, educators and learners gathered to celebrate Temogo’s remarkable achievement, which has placed Morokweng firmly on the provincial map.

Learners from Setswakgosing Secondary School expressed immense pride in Temogo’s success, describing him as a role model who carried the school’s name with excellence and dignity on a national stage.
“Temogo has shown us that hard work pays off. He represented our school and our community very well,” said one learner.

Educators at the school said Temogo’s achievement has already begun to change attitudes towards learning, particularly among younger learners who now see academic excellence as attainable, even in rural settings.

His success has inspired fellow learners to take their studies seriously, affirming that a child from a rural area can achieve outstanding results. Temogo’s journey has reinforced the belief that one’s background or place of origin does not define one’s future.
