In a significant move towards addressing housing challenges, the Department of Human Settlements recently delivered two newly constructed houses and thirty-seven title deeds to residents of Moses Kotane Local Municipality. This initiative is part of the Provincial Government’s Accelerated Service Delivery Programme, Thuntsha Lerole.

The handover ceremony, led by the MEC responsible for Finance, Motlalepula Rosho, was conducted on behalf of North West Acting Premier and MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs, Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi. Rosho emphasized that the government’s duty goes beyond simply building houses; it aims to provide communities with adequate housing that meets their social needs.
During the handover event, MEC Rosho highlighted the importance of the government’s commitment to providing decent and affordable housing, stating, “Today’s handover symbolizes the restoration of dignity to our families and manifests the notion of a caring government on a mission to build a caring and cohesive society.”

Rosho reiterated the government’s pledge to intensify the provision of sustainable human settlements by prioritizing the most vulnerable members of society. A total of thirteen title deeds were handed over during the feedback session, with the remaining twenty-four to be issued through the Moses Kotane Local Municipality.
MEC Rosho urged beneficiaries to cherish their new homes, emphasizing that they should not sell or rent them out as they serve as legacies for future generations.
Expressing their gratitude, beneficiaries Ipeleng Tlholoe (63) and Bertha Pholo (58) conveyed their happiness at receiving their new homes, stating that their living conditions will significantly improve, allowing them to live with dignity.
The Department of Human Settlements remains committed to building quality and habitable homes to ensure the vision of sustainable human settlements becomes a reality.
