Acting North West Premier acts by firing MEC

North West Premier, Bushy Maape will come back from sick leave to be welcomed by changed cabinet. The Acting Premier is really acting. Acting Premier Nono Maloyi made changes at the Provicial Executive Committee by firing Social Development MEC, Boitumelo Moiloa. In a statement released this morning, Maloyi appointmented Lazarus Mokgosi as the new MEC.

“I wish to take this opportunity to inform the people of the North West of my decision in terms of Section 132 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic to effect changes in the composition of the Provincial Executive Council by releasing Honourable Boitumelo Moiloa from her position as a Member of the Executive responsible for Social Development.

Honorable Lazarus Mokgosi will take over as the new MEC for Social Development with effect from 12 July 2023.

The HoD for the Department, Mr. Relebohile Mafokane remains on leave. Acting HoD Mongale will continue with his acting role until the end of July 2023.

The intervention is making positive progress and nearing completion. The public will be informed in due course of the outcome of various areas of intervention in the Department.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank Honorable Moiloa for her contribution during her tenure as MEC. I congratulate the new MEC and wish him all of the best as he assumes his new position as Member of the Executive Council responsible for Social Development,” read the statement.
