In a significant development aimed at fostering stability and tradition, the Acting Premier of the North West Province, Nono Maloyi, has issued a recognition certificate to Mosiameemang Moiloa, officially appointing him as the Acting Kgosi of Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa. The appointment takes immediate effect, following extensive consultations with the Royal Family.
The issuance of the recognition certificate marks a pivotal moment in the community’s history, signifying the province’s commitment to maintaining traditional leadership and promoting community cohesion. This appointment paves the way for Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa to actively participate in the establishment of a Traditional Council, aligning with the provisions of the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act 3 of 2019.
Acting Kgosi Mosiameemang Moiloa will assume a range of responsibilities, crucial to the well-being and development of the community. Among these responsibilities is his participation in the activities of the Ngaka Modiri Molema Local House of Traditional and Khoisan Leaders. This role will allow him to engage with fellow leaders and represent the interests of the community within the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality, particularly concerning challenges in service delivery and the provision of essential resources such as water, especially in Dinokana and surrounding villages.
“Furthermore, Acting Kgosi Moiloa will play a pivotal role in facilitating dialogues and collaborations between the provincial government and traditional leaders. These efforts are geared towards finding sustainable solutions to the socio-economic challenges faced by rural and traditional communities in the North West Province,” said Acting Premier Nono Maloyi.
In conjunction with the recognition certificate, Acting Premier Maloyi has invoked Section 59 of the Traditional and Khoisan Leadership Act. This section empowers the provincial government to establish an investigative team to address challenges related to the succession process within the Bogosi ba Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa. This initiative provides the Royal Family with an opportunity to identify the rightful and substantive Kgosi who will lead Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa into the future.
The issuance of the recognition certificate and the establishment of the investigative team exemplify the North West Province’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage and ensuring the effective governance of traditional communities.
