The ANC North West Conference is going ahead despite a court order. According to ANC officials, the court order interdict 20 IPC members from voting at the conference on Sunday. In a statement, ANC national spokesperson, Pule Mabe said their legal team is studying the judgment.
“The ANC has noted the decision taken by the North West High Court which effectively prohibits members
of the North West Interim Provincial Committee (IPC), totaling 20 members from voting in the currently
sitting 9th provincial conference.
We have instructed our legal team to investigate options at our disposal to deal with this matter and advice
the NEC accordingly. We are hopeful that our intervention will find a positive outcome. Despite this
decision, the conference is continuing because the court didn’t interdict the conference but rather the
voting powers of IPC members.
We wish the ANC in the North West a successful 9th Provincial Conference.
