The African National Congress (ANC) Rustenburg Local Election Team (LET) and the Muslim Community of Rustenburg have announced plans to lead a Palestine Solidarity March on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The march aims to advocate for the liberation of Palestine from Israeli occupation and oppression.

Commencing at 12:00 from the Zinniaville taxi rank, the march will progress to Ben Marias Hall, where a public lecture on the Palestinian struggle and South Africa’s supportive role will be delivered. The lecture will feature speakers from various organizations, including the Palestine Solidarity Alliance, the ANC, the SACP, COSATU, and SANCO, all rallying for a Free Palestine.
This mobilization aligns with a global movement for Palestine, echoing the sentiment of millions who rallied across 60 cities on January 13, 2024. Demands of the marchers include a permanent ceasefire, cessation of the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza, recognition of Palestinian rights to self-determination and statehood, and adherence to UN resolutions on the matter.

Furthermore, participants will urge the South African government to sever all diplomatic, trade, and military relations with Israel. They advocate for sanctions and boycotts until Israel complies with international law and human rights. The call extends to the South African populace to engage in the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel and express solidarity with Palestinians in their pursuit of freedom and justice.

The ANC Rustenburg LET and the Muslim Community of Rustenburg extend an invitation to all peace-loving and justice-seeking individuals to join them in this historic march. Together, they aim to convey South Africa’s unwavering support for Palestine and demonstrate solidarity with the oppressed.
