Bishop Matebesi to Be Laid to Rest This Thursday With North West Premier Attending


The North West Province is set to bid farewell to revered church leader Bishop Daniel Matebesi, who will be laid to rest on Thursday, 15 January 2026.


The Matebesi family, together with church leadership, has confirmed that the funeral service will take place at Grace Bible Church in Unit 15, starting at 06h00. A memorial service will precede the funeral on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at 10h00 at Thelma Mentor Church (AME), near Lehethlo La Phola.


North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Matebesi family, the church fraternity and the broader community following the Bishop’s passing.


In a statement issued by his office, Premier Mokgosi described Bishop Matebesi as a unifying figure whose life was dedicated to faith, service and community upliftment.

The Premier’s office further confirmed that Mokgosi will attend the funeral service on Thursday to pay his final respects and to stand in solidarity with the Matebesi family and the church community.


Bishop Matebesi was widely respected across the province for his spiritual leadership and community involvement, with many remembering him as a humble and approachable leader who touched countless lives through his ministry.


The Matebesi family has expressed appreciation for the outpouring of love, prayers and support received during this difficult time, and has invited members of the public to join them in honouring and celebrating the life and legacy of the late Bishop.
