An array of completed projects and infrastructure were unveiled and handed over to the vibrant community of Jericho village (Ward 2) under the Madibeng Local Municipality on Wednesday. Acting Executive Mayor of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, Councillor Victoria Makhaula, led the ceremony, accompanied by esteemed dignitaries including Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality, Councillor Douglas Maimane, MMCs, councillors, and management officials.

The event marked a significant milestone in the community’s development journey, with a multitude of projects aimed at enhancing livelihoods and fostering sustainable growth. Among the projects unveiled were a vegetable garden equipped with seedlings and garden tools, a generator, a water pump, road paving initiatives, Apolo lights installation, a community hall, a 2.8km inner road, and a 4-megalitre water reservoir.

Addressing the assembled crowd, Acting Executive Mayor Councillor Victoria Makhaula underscored the importance of community stewardship in safeguarding these valuable assets. “I want to appeal to our communities to guard against vandalism and theft of these projects and infrastructure. They belong to you, not the Municipality,” remarked Councillor Makhaula. “Let us continue to build our beloved Bojanala District, ensuring that these assets serve as a lasting legacy of our collective efforts.”

The unveiling and handover of these projects are part of the ongoing Accelerated Service Delivery Program (Thuntsha Lerole) in the Bojanala District. This program, known for its commitment to “beke le beke” progress, emphasizes the collaborative efforts between government and communities to drive impactful change and development.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of gratitude from community members and leaders, highlighting the transformative impact these projects will have on the quality of life and prosperity of Jericho village and its residents.
