Bojanala District Executive Mayor Presents Progress Report on Municipal Affairs

The Executive Mayor of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, Suzan Dikeledi Nthangeni, accompanied by the Mayoral Committee Members (MMCs) and Acting Municipal Manager, presented a detailed progress report on the municipality’s state of affairs to the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs (COGSTA), MEC Nono Molapisi, and MEC for Provincial Treasury, Wendy Mosenogi.

The presentation focused on the 2023/2024 municipal assessment outcomes, feedback on the skills audit, governance, service delivery responses, and municipal finance performance. The report aimed to address key areas requiring improvement and to enhance accountability across the municipality.

In his response, MEC Molapisi emphasized the importance of collaboration between COGSTA and Provincial Treasury, stating, “We are here, amongst others, to consolidate feedback on the outcomes of engagement between the municipality, COGSTA, and Provincial Treasury. Ours is to strengthen areas of collaboration to improve municipal performance.”

Executive Mayor Nthangeni echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the progress made during the 2023/2024 financial year but also highlighting the need for continued improvement. “The report indicates clearly that whilst there is remarkable improvement registered in the year under review, there is still room for improvement with a view to achieving clean, unqualified audits in future,” she said.
