Bojanala Mayor tackles Madikwe Potholes

The Executive Mayor of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, Matlakala Nondzaba led by example and tackled potholes at Madikwe township in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality. She literally assisted to patch the potholes and cleaned the township at the weekend. The Executive Mayor was joined by locals to patch potholes and clean the streets of Madikwe township during the Letsema Campaign.
The Executive Mayor emphasised that roads formed a critical infrastructure to stimulate economic growth especially in rural areas.
“We know that when our roads are not properly maintained, locals will suffer in many ways but also cannot attract new investments,” said Nondzaba.
She added that people will naturally follow what you do as a leader, and not what you say.
The Executive Mayor said it was important to restore the culture of community ownership of the
infrastructure and volunteering.
Letsema Campaign is rooted on the principle that, leaders are servants of the people, and ‘To lead is
to Serve’.
The local councillor, Sello Tlhojane said he would encourage the community to stop dumping
their garbage everywhere as it poses health risks for children.
The local SAPS also joined the campaign led by Station Commander, Linda September. She said it
was important for the community to be part of such campaigns. She added that their participation
was to encourage and raise awareness on the importance of living in a safe and clean environment.
