A violent rampage erupted at the Annual Fun Games and Music Festival at Makwassie Stadium this morning- 27 December 2024 following the alleged no-show of popular musician Makhadzi. Disgruntled attendees reportedly set the stage and sound equipment ablaze, causing damages estimated at R3 million.

The incident occurred around 05:15, with frustrated fans expressing their outrage over the singer’s absence. Videos circulating on social media show the chaos, as well as clips where Makhadzi had earlier confirmed her attendance at the event.

This is not the first time Makhadzi has faced criticism for missing scheduled performances in the North West Province. A local promoter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the singer has a pattern of snubbing gigs in the North West. “It’s becoming a trend with her, especially for North West shows,” the promoter stated.
The South African Police Service has launched a manhunt to identify those responsible for the malicious damage to property.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Thabo Mokoena confirmed that investigations are underway. “We are appealing to anyone with information regarding the suspects to come forward. Such acts of destruction cannot be tolerated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Makhadzi has yet to respond to the allegations of her no-show. Her management team has also remained silent on the matter, leaving fans and event organizers eagerly awaiting clarification.
The festival, which is an annual highlight in the community, ended on a sour note, with many attendees expressing disappointment and anger over the turn of events.
This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
