The Eagles Traffic Unit made a significant breakthrough this morning when they stopped a blue Nissan bakkie during their routine patrol on the Zeerust to Mahikeng road near Manyane Game Reserve. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers discovered the carcass of a bull, believed to have been stolen.

The vehicle’s driver and passenger, aged 24 and 30, were promptly questioned, and the police were called to the scene. Both men were arrested for stock theft. Authorities suspect that more cattle were stolen from a nearby farm and slaughtered in Bakkerville, as another carcass was found in the quarries in the bushy areas of the village. During this search, a Lesotho national was also arrested in connection with the theft.

The police are actively investigating the matter, and more arrests are expected. A case of stock theft will be registered at the Lichtenburg police station, and the suspects are set to appear in court soon.

MEC Wessels Morweng, responsible for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, commended the Eagles Traffic Unit for their outstanding work. “This sends a strong message to those who have similar intentions,” he said, reiterating the province’s stance against stock theft.
The police continue to work diligently to bring all suspects to justice in this developing case.
