Executive Mayor Mabale-Huma Tees Off Inaugural Golf Day to Boost Bursary Fund

The Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality, Shiela Mabale-Huma, has stepped up efforts to secure brighter futures for young people by rallying local businesses to support the Mayoral Bursary Fund.

Mabale-Huma officially teed off the Inaugural Mayoral Golf Day on Thursday-18 September 2025 at the Lost City Golf Course in Sun City, a flagship fundraising event aimed at strengthening the Bursary Fund and ensuring more learners gain access to tertiary education.

The Mayor’s Bursary Fund has, over the years, provided critical financial assistance to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to pursue higher education. With applications for the 2026 academic year currently open and closing on 31 October 2025, the Municipality is intensifying efforts to grow the fund.

“This initiative is about investing in our future leaders,” Mabale-Huma said. “By partnering with businesses and stakeholders, we can create opportunities for deserving learners who would otherwise be unable to afford tertiary education.”
