Matlakala Nondzaba, the former Executive Mayor of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, has launched a legal battle to be reinstated to her position, alleging that her removal was illegal. Nondzaba, who served as Executive Mayor until her ousting, is taking on the municipality, the council, and the political party that deployed her to the position, in a bid to overturn the decision.

According to court documents obtained by Naledi News, the respondents in the case include the Municipal Manager of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, the current Executive Mayor, the Speaker of the council, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) official Kagiso Moleko, and the African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Secretary. The case also names several other political parties, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Democratic Alliance (DA), African Independent Congress (AIC), Forum 4 Service Delivery (F4SD), and Save Madibeng.

Nondzaba, who has retained the services of a Pretoria-based law firm, claims her removal was orchestrated without due process and is seeking to have the decision overturned by the High Court of South Africa, North West Division, in Mafikeng.
Sources close to the matter have indicated that Nondzaba could face expulsion from the ANC, as she has been summoned to a disciplinary hearing. The move suggests that her legal challenge may have significant political ramifications within the party.

Mpho Moeketsane, the Single Whip of the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality Council, confirmed that the council is aware of the case but declined to comment further, citing the matter as sub judice. However, Moeketsane did state that all ANC council members are deployed by the party, which retains the authority to recall them as it sees fit.
The case is expected to be heard in the High Court in the coming weeks, with Nondzaba’s position within the ANC—hanging in the balance.
