Four Suspects to Appear in Rustenburg Court for Armed Robbery and Firearm Charges

Four male suspects are expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court soon following their arrest by the Rustenburg Flying Squad. They face charges of armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The arrests took place at approximately 09:15 on Saturday, 11 January 2025, along the R510 road. According to police reports, the suspects allegedly robbed two males of their cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victims, who operate a business in Extension 5, Boitekong, were traveling to Rustenburg when a navy blue Volkswagen Polo overtook and blocked their vehicle near Ramochana. The suspects exited their car, brandished a firearm, and proceeded to rob the victims before fleeing the scene.

The Flying Squad acted swiftly, leading to the apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of suspected stolen goods. Police also confiscated an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Authorities have commended the quick response of law enforcement officers, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in curbing violent crime.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. They are set to make their first court appearance in the coming days.
