Graduates Celebrate Achievement in Public Sector Accounting

In a ceremony filled with pride and anticipation for the future, forty-two graduates were awarded Accounting Technician (AT) Public Sector certificates after completing a rigorous one-year level four program at Credo Business College. This achievement marks a significant milestone as they embark on promising careers in the accounting sector.

Addressing the graduates, Motlalepula Rosho, MEC for Finance, commended them for their dedication and highlighted the importance of their roles in shaping the future of our economy and society. “Each of you carries the torch of excellence and integrity in the realm of public sector financial management,” she remarked, underscoring the crucial role they play in ensuring transparent and effective financial practices.

Reflecting on the inception of the program, MEC Rosho acknowledged the foresight of last year’s initiative by the National Treasury, supported by grant funding from the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET). The program’s goal was clear: to equip young professionals with essential financial accounting skills tailored for public sector demands.

She encouraged the graduates to serve as beacons of success in their careers, emphasizing their potential to enhance public sector financial management practices. “Your work will not only optimize the management of public funds but also inspire future generations to pursue excellence in this noble field,” she urged.

As the graduates prepare to assume their roles, MEC Rosho reminded them of their responsibility to uphold integrity and strive for excellence. “You have the power to transform financial management within the public service, ensuring that every resource is used wisely and for the benefit of all,” she affirmed.

In closing, she celebrated the achievements of the day, recognizing that education and opportunity are pivotal to societal progress. “Each certificate represents not just acquired knowledge, but a commitment to continuous growth and positive change,” she concluded, urging the graduates to make a difference in public service, private organizations, or their communities.

The ceremony was a testament to the graduates’ hard work and determination, marking the beginning of their impactful journey in the realm of public sector accounting. As they embark on their careers, they carry with them the aspirations of a brighter, more transparent financial future for South Africa.
