Incident at Rustenburg Fan Park During Rugby World Cup Live Screening Prompts Safety Investigation

The Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Local Municipality, ShielaMabale-Huma expressed deep sadness over an incident that occurred at the Rustenburg Hoer Skool Fan Park during the live screening of the Rugby World Cup last night, 21 October 2023. Five individuals were rescued after falling from a podium at 10:33 PM.

Emergency personnel swiftly responded to the scene and worked tirelessly to ensure that the injured community members received the best medical attention. The incident has been reported to the Disaster and Management Unit of the Municipality.

In response to the incident, Mabale-Huma has taken immediate action to establish a team of safety experts. “This team will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the immediate cause of the incident.
