Karishma Involved in Car Accident, to Miss Taung Cultural Calabash Performance

The much-anticipated Taung Cultural Calabash Festival has been struck by unexpected news after learning that one of its headline performers, Karishma, was involved in a car accident earlier on Friday morning in Limpopo.

The organisers, Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sport Foundation and the Taung Cultural Calabash Festival, confirmed the incident and expressed their sympathy and support for the popular artist.

In a statement, the Foundation extended its heartfelt wishes for Karishma’s speedy recovery, noting that the artist’s family and management have requested privacy as they deal with the situation.

“We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt well wishes to Karishma as she recovers from this unfortunate incident. At this time, both the Festival team and the Foundation are affording Karishma’s family and management the privacy and space they need to navigate this difficult moment,” the statement read.

Organisers also urged fans and the media to be sensitive and considerate in their coverage of the matter, emphasising the importance of compassion and accuracy in sharing information.

Karishma, who has become a household name in South Africa’s music scene, was set to be one of the main acts at the Taung Cultural Calabash performance scheduled for tonight. Her absence is expected to be deeply felt by festivalgoers, many of whom were eagerly anticipating her performance.

The Festival team said it remains hopeful for Karishma’s full recovery and stands in solidarity with her and her loved ones during this time.

“Karishma has been an incredible inspiration to many, and we stand firmly behind her and her team,” organisers added.

The Taung Cultural Calabash Festival continues tonight, celebrating the province’s rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and art, while keeping Karishma in their thoughts and prayers.
