Kgetlengrivier Municipality Empowers Youth with Traffic Officer Training Program

In a bid to address unemployment and empower the youth, the Office of Mayor Thabo Jacobs at Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality launched a groundbreaking Basic Traffic Officers training learnership program. This initiative, aimed at creating job opportunities, saw 30 young adults enrolled on April 1, 2022, at the esteemed Matjhabeng Traffic Training Academy.

Under the guidance of dedicated instructors, the participants embarked on a rigorous training journey focused on acquiring the Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement (SAQA ID: 62289). This comprehensive program comprised 19 Unit Standards designed to equip the learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in traffic law enforcement.

Today marks a significant milestone as these diligent students successfully completed their learning program, emerging as proficient traffic officers ready to serve their community with distinction. To commemorate their achievements, the municipality has organized a grand pass-out parade program scheduled for today, February 16, 2024, at the prestigious Reagile Stadium.

According to municipal spokesperson, Sannah Magakgala, the pass-out parade serves as a momentous occasion not only for the graduates but also for the entire community, as it symbolizes the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. “It is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality to invest in the future of its youth and enhance public safety on the roads,” said Magakgala.

As the newly minted traffic officers prepare to embark on their professional journey, they carry with them the values of integrity, service, and responsibility instilled during their training. Their presence on the roads will not only contribute to the enforcement of traffic laws but also promote safer driving practices and ultimately save lives.

The pass-out parade program at Reagile Stadium promises to be a moment of celebration and pride, showcasing the talent and potential of the youth in Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality. It reaffirms the municipality’s commitment to proactive youth development initiatives and sets a shining example for other communities to follow suit in nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals.
