Rustenburg Local Municipality caucus leader Luan Snyders has taken a major step forward in his political career after accepting a nomination for a senior leadership position within the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the North West.

Snyders has confirmed that he has accepted nomination for the position of Deputy Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) North West, with the leadership contest set to take place at the party’s provincial congress on 7 February 2026.
The development marks an important progression from his current role as caucus leader in the Rustenburg Local Municipality, where he has been a prominent voice on council matters, service delivery challenges and governance oversight. His leadership at local government level has earned him recognition within party structures across the province.
The upcoming DA North West provincial congress is expected to be closely watched, as delegates from across the province will elect new leadership and chart the party’s strategic direction ahead of future elections.
If elected, Snyders is expected to play a key role in supporting municipal caucuses, building party structures and advancing the DA’s growth across the North West Province.
