The Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality, Douglas Maimane, met with Traditional Leaders (Headmen) from Ward 1 on Monday at Legonyane Community Hall to discuss urgent service delivery issues affecting local communities.

The meeting follows concerns raised during the recent Provincial Thuntsa Lerole Service Delivery Programme, where residents expressed frustration over persistent challenges in basic services such as water and infrastructure.
Maimane was accompanied by Members of the Mayoral Committee, Ward 1 Councillor Lucky Nkoe, Municipal Manager Quiet Kgatla, and other senior municipal officials.

Key issues discussed included water supply shortages in the villages of Fafung, Mmupudung, Rooiwal, and Legonyane, as well as the poor state of provincial and internal roads and bridges in Vaalboschloot, Mmasebolane, Rasai, Klipvoorstadt, and Kwarriekraal.
In his closing remarks, Maimane instructed the relevant MMCs and the Municipal Manager to act swiftly and provide concrete feedback in a follow-up meeting scheduled for 18 November 2025.

“Today’s engagement was not just a meeting but a commitment,” said Mayor Maimane. “We are here to restore the dignity of our people and ensure that every household receives the basic services they deserve. We are moving with urgency — the issues raised today will not sit in reports but will translate into action.”
The Executive Mayor emphasized that accountability and visible progress would be central to the municipality’s efforts as it continues to strengthen relations with traditional leaders and communities across Moretele.
