The Madibeng Local Municipality has pledged to intensify efforts to improve service delivery following its Mid-Term Review Strategic Planning session, which concluded on Wednesday, 22 January 2025. Resolutions from the two-day session will be tabled at the upcoming Council meeting later this month.

The session, which focused on assessing departmental performance and crafting actionable plans, was attended by the Municipality’s political leadership and senior officials. Among those present were Executive Mayor Douglas Maimane, Speaker of Council Ditshego Mbezi, Single Whip Peter Padi, MPAC Chairperson Eugene Van Der Schyff, Members of the Mayoral Committee, and Municipal Manager Quiet Kgatla.

Closing the session, Executive Mayor Maimane called for collective accountability and emphasized the need for visible and impactful leadership to address community challenges.

“Each and every one of us must play our part in ensuring that our people receive better services. We are elected to serve, and that is what we must do,” said Maimane. He announced plans to hold Mayoral Committee Meetings in communities, starting with Wards 1 and 2, to assess conditions firsthand.

“We must engage directly with residents, understand the challenges they face, and work together to find permanent solutions. Service delivery is not an option; it is our obligation,” Maimane added.

The resolutions from the session, which include actionable steps to address service delivery gaps, will set the tone for the Municipality’s priorities moving forward.

Residents and stakeholders have welcomed the Municipality’s commitment to transparency and community-centered leadership, with hopes that the resolutions will translate into tangible improvements on the ground.
