The Madibeng Local Municipality, through its Department of Community Services, has taken a strong stance against illegal waste dumping, launching a “War Against Illegal Waste Dumping” campaign and extending refuse collection services to underserved areas. This major initiative aims to improve waste management in the municipality while promoting environmental health and sustainability.

As part of this campaign, refuse removal services have been extended to 31 wards that previously had no waste collection services. This expansion not only addresses the needs of these communities but also creates green jobs through the Extended Public Works Program (EPWP), offering employment opportunities to local residents and fostering greater community involvement in environmental protection.

The municipality’s efforts are rooted in compliance with national legislation and regulations, which require consistent waste management services across all communities. By fulfilling this obligation, the municipality aims to reduce illegal dumping, enhance public health, and create a cleaner, safer environment for all residents.

Madibeng Municipality calls on the community to support this campaign by refraining from illegal dumping and participating in keeping their surroundings clean. The expansion of services, alongside the municipality’s commitment to environmental stewardship, represents a step forward in building a sustainable future for all wards in the region.
