North West MEC responsible for Agriculture and Rural Development, Desbo Mohono is set to lead a comprehensive outreach program to rural communities in Madiba A Ga Kubu and six neighboring villages on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between government departments and remote communities by bringing essential services directly to their doorstep. Officials from the Department will be on hand to provide vital services, disseminate information, and address inquiries and grievances from residents on-site.

One of the key highlights of the outreach program includes MEC Mohono’s visit to indigent households, where interventions such as the establishment of backyard food gardens and the provision of indigenous chickens for breeding will be implemented. A total of 121 households from seven villages and two schools have been identified for assistance, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing poverty at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, the Department’s Land Care Program has already generated 210 green jobs within the targeted villages, demonstrating a concerted effort to promote sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship in rural areas.

Through this citizen-centric approach, the Department aims to achieve multifaceted objectives, including poverty alleviation, enhanced public engagement with government entities, increased awareness of departmental policies and regulations, and the promotion of transparency and accountability in the utilization of public resources.
MEC Mohono’s proactive stance underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in driving positive change in rural communities. As the outreach program unfolds, residents can anticipate tangible benefits and a renewed sense of empowerment in shaping their local environment and future prospects.
