North West MEC for Public Works and Roads, Gaoage Oageng Molapisi, recently conducted an oversight visit to the Nelson Mandela Drive rehabilitation project in Mahikeng. The visit, part of regular inspections, aims to ensure the project adheres to its revised schedule.
With progress at over 80%, MEC Molapisi expressed confidence that the road project would be completed before the end of May 2024.

During the visit, MEC Molapisi, accompanied by Director Simon Manoto, engaged with workers on site. Among them, 28-year-old Graschanda Kgori expressed gratitude for the job opportunity and training provided.

MEC Molapisi emphasized, “I am especially delighted about the opportunities offered to our communities by this project. Interfacing with workers gives hope that our agenda for creating job opportunities and increasing skills will be realized.”
He added, “We are confident that the Nelson Mandela Drive will be completed soon. There is visibly significant progress as compared to the last visit.”
The rehabilitation of Nelson Mandela Drive is crucial for enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region, promising improved connectivity and safety for residents and commuters alike.
