MEC Morweng to Deliver Keynote Address at North West Road Safety Schools Debate Competition

The MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, is set to deliver a keynote address at the highly anticipated North West Road Safety Schools Debate Competition. This prestigious event, which follows a series of successful district competitions, will see four schools compete for the provincial title and the opportunity to represent the North West Province at the national level.

The schools that have earned their place in the provincial competition are Golf View Secondary School from Ngaka Modiri Molema District, Tiragalo Secondary School from Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Tigerkloof Combined School from Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, and Leokeng Secondary School representing Bojanala District.

The Road Safety Debate and Participatory Education Technique (PET) is an annual initiative aimed at high school learners, promoting responsible road safety behaviour. The programme not only encourages young people to become advocates for road safety but also helps them develop essential research, analytical, and presentation skills.

The event will take place at Ngwenya Hotel in Klerksdorp on Friday, 30 August 2024, starting at 09:00.
