MEC Mosenogi Empowers Ventersdorp Women

MEC Kenetswe Mosenogi in her 2022 Budget Speech indicated that about 750 applications for DEDECT Empowerment Fund have been received of which only 115 applications have been approved for support in the 2022/23 financial year.

In keeping up to the departmental commitment to this intervention, the MEC reached out to Goedgevonden, Welgevonden villages and Tshing location in Ventersdorp, to hand over equipment to six women owned enterprises who are beneficiaries of the departmental empowerment fund programme.

The beneficiaries include Gabaitse Enterprise, Mmabantsi Enterprise, The Mary’s Projects and Services and Moneelo Catering and Projects. The enterprises specializes in catering, deco and events management. They were assisted with equipment ranging from single door display fridges, double electric fryers, chip cutters, ice making machines, electric flat top grillers, pie warmers, steel tables, tiffany chairs, ice markers, round chafing dishes, digital scales, foldable plastic tables, stretch tents, artificial grass etc.

Other enterprises that received equipment are Lucy General Dealer which was assisted with tuck shop equipment and Khomanani Projects which was assisted with sewing and embroidery equipment. The enterprises are both based at Tshing Location.

MEC Mosenogi commended the beneficiaries for their dedication, commitment and poised showed to grow and sustain their businesses, and provide for their families. She also encouraged those operating from the same locality to avoid competing with each other but rather work together to provide a comprehensive service out of various operations and resources they have. The recipients were also encouraged to assist and share information with other community members, the very same way local municipalities assisted and informed them of the departmental empowerment fund.

The recipients expressed gratitude to the department for the assistance received, uttering that the equipment will help in growing their businesses and be able to employ more people.

The empowerment fund assists with the procurement of equipment for start-up as well as the growth, and expansion of small businesses which contribute to job creation and poverty alleviation.
