North West MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) of the South African Principals Association (SAPA) in the North West following a successful two-day provincial conference.

The conference, which brought together principals and deputy principals from all four education districts, concluded with robust discussions focused on improving the quality of education across the province. SAPA, a non-aligned professional body, is committed to sharing best practices and fostering leadership excellence in schools.

Elected to lead the newly formed PEC is Tseko Masina from the Ngaka Modiri Molema District, who will serve as President. He is joined by Deputy President Shadrack Seetane from Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Treasurer Primrose Kgololosego from Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, Secretary General Mokgethi Masenya also from Dr Kenneth Kaunda, and Deputy Secretary Esther Moetsi from Ngaka Modiri Molema.

In a moving moment during the closing ceremony, the outgoing and founding President of SAPA North West, Lesiba Pila, was presented with the Honorary Presidency Award in recognition of his lifelong dedication to education. Pila, who began his teaching career in 1985, was visibly emotional and humbled by the tribute.

“This is a serious surprise which I have never thought about in my entire life. I am a child of this province and I will continue to contribute to the improvement of education even when I have retired,” said Pila.

MEC Motsumi emphasized the crucial role SAPA plays in educational leadership. “The work starts now. SAPA empowers school leaders through professional development, sharing of best practices, and advocating for policy improvement. I assure the new PEC of my full support—my door is always open,” she stated.

The North West SAPA delegation is scheduled to participate in the national SAPA conference in Gqeberha on 12 September 2025.
