The MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari, swiftly responded to concerns raised by National Transport and Allied Workers Union (NTI) employees following a protest that led to route blockades in the early hours of Thursday in Mahikeng.

NTI employees took to the streets in a peaceful demonstration, raising their grievances and concerns. The protest took an unexpected turn when they proceeded to drive to Ikageng Stadium in Potchefstroom, where President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to host an Imbizo tomorrow, Friday.
The employees, in a bid to ensure their voices were heard, sought a follow-up meeting with MEC Lehari. They requested the meeting for tomorrow morning at 08:00 to further discuss the issues that had prompted their demonstration.

The protest had caused some disruption, but with a commitment to open communication and understanding, MEC Lehari aims to work together with the NTI employees to resolve the outstanding matters.
