The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Brigadier Ditlhoriso Johannes Mashaba, the esteemed Mahikeng Police Station Commissioner. Brigadier Mashaba, who passed away in hospital following a brief illness, will be laid to rest tomorrow in Welverdiend, near Lichtenburg.

“We are deeply saddened by the demise of an outstanding public servant, a career policeman who was committed to protecting and serving our communities with utmost diligence,” said Pastor Lesiba Kgwele, Convenor of the MRM North West Provincial Interim Committee. He added that Mashaba’s exceptional conflict resolution skills set him apart as a peacemaker, always striving for consensus and peaceful resolution while upholding the rule of law.
Throughout his distinguished career, Brigadier Mashaba led with integrity, professionalism, and humility. He was known for his dedication to building strong partnerships with the communities he served, a quality that earned him widespread respect.
“His untimely death has left an indelible mark and a void that will be difficult to fill,” Pastor Kgwele remarked.

Brigadier Mashaba, affectionately known as “Shakes” for his passion for football and sports, believed in the power of sports as a tool to combat drugs and substance abuse in communities.
Pastor Kgwele extended heartfelt condolences to Brigadier Mashaba’s family, the SAPS Management, his colleagues, and the crime prevention structures within the Mahikeng Policing precinct, as well as the broader communities of Itsoseng and Mahikeng that he served.
“A fitting tribute to him would be to intensify efforts in fighting crime, ensuring that communities are drug-free, and making the most vulnerable, particularly the elderly and women, safer,” Pastor Kgwele concluded.
