MRM Condemns Gruesome Murder of Mosiane View Woman by Her Son

The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) in the North West has strongly condemned the horrific murder of a 48-year-old woman, allegedly killed and mutilated by her 25-year-old son in Mosiane View village near Mahikeng.

The shocking incident, which took place on Saturday, has sparked outrage and deep sorrow across the province. A disturbing video of the attack, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the suspect, identified as Morgan Nchwi, dragging the lifeless body of his mother, Ntebogang Nchwi, outside their home and brutally hacking her with a spade in broad daylight.

MRM Provincial Interim Committee Convenor, Pastor Lesiba Kgwele, condemned the sharing of the video, describing it as an “irresponsible and despicable display of moral decay that will only deepen generational trauma.”

“This has undoubtedly left scores of neighbours, eyewitnesses, and relatives of the deceased reeling in shock and in need of urgent trauma counselling,” said Kgwele.

He further stressed that the family and community are essential social units that must strive to build moral and ethical values grounded in the spirit of Ubuntu.

Kgwele welcomed the South African Police Service Occult Related Crimes Unit’s involvement in the investigation, as well as the swift intervention by the Department of Social Development (DSD), which has deployed officials to probe the circumstances surrounding the killing and to provide psychosocial support to affected residents.

Preliminary investigations suggest that substance abuse may have played a role in the tragedy, as the mother and son were reportedly involved in a long-standing abusive relationship.

“The escalation of violent behaviour within the household, culminating in such a demonic act, is a cause for great concern,” Kgwele said.

He further revealed that reports indicate the suspect allegedly cut out his mother’s heart and ate it before being attacked by enraged residents and later shot by a member of the community at the chaotic crime scene.

“The incident bears the hallmark of satanic influence,” Kgwele remarked solemnly.

The MRM has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Nchwi family and announced plans for a community dialogue, prayer, and counselling service in Mosiane View on Thursday afternoon.

The initiative will be hosted in partnership with the MEC for Social Development, Basetsana Dantjie, Kgosi Chris Mosiane, the Banogeng Clan, Mahikeng Ministers Fellowship, local churches, and NGOs including Angels of Tomorrow and Men For Real, along with the Mahikeng Local Municipality.

“This tragedy calls for collective reflection and action to restore moral values, strengthen families, and fight the scourge of violence and moral decay in our communities,” Kgwele concluded.
