The community of Yizo Yizo in Tlhabane will soon be moved to a new area. That will see them having proper houses with electricity and running water. According to MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional affairs, Nono Maloyi, government have secured a land within the Yizo Yizo area.
Maloyi said on Monday – 03 July 2023 – the relocation team will start with its work. “I’m here to take action not for votes. We need your votes but that’s not the reason I’m here now. I’m moving around the province identifying housing problems. I will be here in August to check progress,” Maloyi told Yizo Yizo residents at Tlhabane Stadium on Tuesday – 27 July 2023.
According to the MEC, currently Yizo Yizo is situated in a tribal land and the municipality is unable to effect any development or construct a settlement with basic services.
