New Monnamere Primary School Unveiled in Dinokana

The North West Department of Education celebrated the official handover of the newly constructed Monnamere Primary School in Dinokana village, Zeerust, on Wednesday. The ceremony, presided over by MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi, marked a significant milestone for the community.

Replacing an outdated structure, the new Monnamere Primary School boasts a modern brick-and-mortar design, offering a conducive learning environment for its pupils. The school features 21 classrooms, including 3 Grade R classrooms, along with an administration block, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a multipurpose hall, a tuck shop, a library, a guard house, covered walkways, a soccer field, combo courts, waterborne sanitation facilities, a perimeter fence with an access gate, and ample parking.

With a total project budget of R131.8 million, the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) served as the implementing agent. Construction began in 2021 after the site was handed over to the DBSA.

MEC Motsumi expressed pride in delivering the state-of-the-art facility to the Dinokana community, stating, “This school is testament to our commitment to providing quality education infrastructure in our province.”

Motsumi highlighted the broader impact of the project, emphasizing its role in job creation. “It is important to note that the project not only benefitted the community with a new school but also created much-needed employment opportunities. A total of 260 people were employed during the project construction phase, including SMMEs, youth, and women.”

She urged the community to take ownership of the school and called for active parental involvement to ensure the facility is well-maintained and fosters a productive learning environment for future generations.

The unveiling of the Monnamere Primary School represents a significant investment in education infrastructure, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving educational facilities and opportunities for learners across the North West province.
