Newly Built R45 Million Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Bulk Pharmacy Officially Opened

Today, Thursday, March 21, 2024, marked the official opening of the newly constructed Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Bulk Pharmacy, a significant milestone in the province’s healthcare infrastructure. The ceremony, led by Acting Premier Nono Maloyi and Health MEC Madoda Sambatha, highlighted the government’s dedication to achieving universal health coverage.

Situated within the Ventersdorp Hospital in the JB Marks Local Municipality, the bulk pharmacy is a pivotal component of the province’s integrated plan to enhance the availability of essential medicines in healthcare facilities. With a total investment of R45 million, the facility is poised to serve as a vital lifeline for the residents of the district.

“The official opening of the bulk pharmacy in Ventersdorp is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing accessible healthcare services to all citizens,” stated Acting Premier Nono Maloyi. “This initiative is a crucial step towards ensuring that every individual in our province has access to the medications they need to maintain their health and well-being.”

The Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Bulk Pharmacy will cater to the needs of the third-largest district in the province, covering a population of over 829,000 residents. Its strategic location within Ventersdorp Hospital ensures convenient access for patients and healthcare providers alike.

Health MEC Madoda Sambatha emphasized the significance of the bulk pharmacy in bolstering the province’s healthcare infrastructure. “This facility represents a significant investment in the health and wellness of our communities,” noted MEC Sambatha. “By centralizing pharmaceutical services, we can streamline the distribution of medications and ensure that no one is left behind.”
