North West Education MEC Calls Special Meeting to Address Key Issues

The North West Department of Education’s MEC, Ntsetsao Viola Motsumi, has convened a special meeting in Rustenburg with the Acting Superintendent-General, Deputy Director-Generals, and the four District Directors. This meeting follows immediately after MEC Motsumi’s re-appointment to the department, underscoring her commitment to strengthening educational administration and performance.

The special meeting is meant to addresses several critical issues, including:

  • Strengthening the Administration and Management Roles of Deputy Directors-General and District Directors
  • Monitoring the implementation of targets in the Annual Performance Plan and related expenditure
  • Enhancing support to schools to improve learner performance

MEC Motsumi is expected to continue her “Meet and Greet” meetings across the department, aimed at improving educational outcomes. In addition to these meetings, she will conduct accountability sessions where departmental managers will be evaluated based on their performance. These sessions are designed to identify challenges within each unit and develop amicable solutions.

“We believe that this meeting will significantly improve the performance of all learners from Grade R-12 by the end of the year,” stated MEC Motsumi.

The department remains optimistic that these initiatives will lead to a marked improvement in educational standards and learner performance across the North West province.
