North West Growth Hub Launched at OR Tambo International Airport

The North West Province took a bold step towards economic transformation today with the official launch of the North West Growth Hub at OR Tambo International Airport.

Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi, joined by MEC for Economic Development Bitsa Lenkopane and Rustenburg Executive Mayor Cllr. Sheila Mabale Huma, led the high-level delegation at the unveiling of this strategic platform aimed at boosting the province’s digital marketing and global presence.

Designed to enhance the province’s positioning as a prime destination for tourism, trade, and investment, the Growth Hub will also serve as a springboard for Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) by improving their visibility in competitive markets.

“This launch marks a major milestone in our efforts to place North West on the global economic map,” said Premier Mokgosi. “Through this Growth Hub, we are showcasing our province’s unique offerings — from biodiversity and cultural heritage to innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Key features of the Growth Hub include:

  • Enhanced digital visibility for local businesses
  • Support for MSMEs in accessing digital and marketing platforms
  • Cross-industry collaboration to unlock opportunities in conservation, biodiversity, tourism, and hospitality

The Hub will also act as a digital gateway for potential investors and visitors, offering curated information on trade opportunities, tourism destinations, and the province’s economic landscape.

MEC Lenkopane said the initiative reflects government’s commitment to inclusive economic development. “We are creating a space where small businesses can thrive, where our youth can innovate, and where our cultural and natural wealth can attract global attention.”

With its location at Africa’s busiest airport, the Growth Hub is set to become a vital touch point for international engagement, bringing the stories, strengths, and opportunities of the North West directly to the world.
