The Rustenburg Civic Centre came alive on Friday, 06 December 2024, as the North West Media Awards celebrated the North West most outstanding media practitioners. The prestigious event, now a hallmark of excellence in the North West, brought together journalists, broadcasters, government officials, and media stakeholders to honour achievements in journalism, broadcasting, and digital media.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Hon. Both leaders presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to veteran media professionals who have left an indelible mark on the industry.

Renowned radio presenter Minah Pilane Huma was celebrated for her decades of service in broadcasting. Dulile Sowaga, a retired journalist who dedicated many years to Media24, was also honoured for a career that exemplified commitment and excellence.

In his keynote address, Deputy Minister Morolong underscored the essential role of media in upholding democracy. “A strong and relevant media is vital for transparency, accountability, and the advancement of our democracy,” he stated.

Veteran broadcaster Modisane Modise was another highlight of the evening. A former presenter on Motsweding FM and You FM, Modise’s journey in radio inspired the audience, showcasing the power of perseverance and passion in storytelling.
