The North West Media Awards announced the winners of the 2025 edition at a ceremony held in Rustenburg, recognising excellence in journalism, broadcasting, communication and digital media.
SABC journalist Jabu Oa Afrika won both the Poloko Tau Investigative News Story of the Year and Journalist of the Year awards.

The Communicator of the Year award went to Boitumelo Boweni from the Department of Social Development in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District. The Klerksdorp Record won Community Newspaper of the Year, while Dikgang Tsa Rona, also from the Department of Social Development in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, won Newsletter of the Year.

Letlhogonolo Moleah of the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality won Photographer of the Year. NWU FM was named Community Radio Station of the Year.
Jane Nku of Vaaltar FM won Newsreader of the Year in the main category, while Bahedile Selogilwe of Motsweding FM won the sub-category. MDN TV won Online Media House of the Year.

Bonolo “Miss Faith” Monaisa of NWU FM won Radio Presenter of the Year in the main category, while Sweetness Motsepe of You FM won the sub-category. Peculiar Ntehelang of NWU FM won Radio Producer of the Year.

Meso Ya Moribo of NWU FM won Radio Programme of the Year in the main category, while Party Starter of You FM won the sub-category.

Roana Grey won Social Media Influencer of the Year, while Job Opportunities with Tshepo Fout won Social Media Platform of the Year.
Kenneth Moswaane of Kgatleng FM won Sports Presenter of the Year in the main category, while Mosela Mokgosi of Motsweding FM won the sub-category.

The Current Affairs Programme of the Year award went to Tlatlana Ya Dikgang of Kgatleng FM.

Special recognition was given to Snyman Rankane and Dr Easy Matjila. The awards were presented by the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Hon Kenny Morolong, Rustenburg Executive Mayor Cllr Shiela Mabale-Huma, and Louis Jacobs from the North-West University.

During the ceremony, Morolong announced that it is now law that 30% of the government advertising budget will be spent on community media.

The awards were made possible through the support of the North-West University. The founder of the awards, Ananias Ndlovu, thanked the university for its continued commitment to media development. Louis Jacobs said the university remains committed to uplifting the media sector.
