The Department is proud to announce that it has supported 147 Athletes towards the 2023 Comrades Marathon and that support has yielded the most amazing results as not only has it produced a winner in the form of Tete Dijana, but it has produced a star who went to win the Marathon back to backand also broke the record.
We are overjoyed that Bokone Bo Phirima is steadily becoming the Mecca of Marathon Athletes as it has witnessed exceptional perfomance from the likes of:

Edward Mothibi
Gordon Lesetedi
Johannes Makgetla
Gift Kelehe
These athletes have put our Province on the Map and that is why we saw it fit to give them a befitting Heroe’s Welcome.
We must also take our hats off to the football teams that are making glowing strides. We are Proud of these teams not only because they are doing well but because we have also supported them in kind.
