In a proactive move to enhance road safety, the North West Traffic Authorities, led by MEC Sello Lehari and Director Paul Stone, initiated a focused operation today on the N4 to compel drivers with outstanding fines to settle their dues promptly.
The North West Province witnessed a commendable 10% reduction in road fatalities during the 2023 festive season compared to the same period last year. This decline is credited to the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management’s robust road safety initiatives, particularly the Joint Law Enforcement Operations spearheaded by MEC Sello Lehari since October 2023.

The department’s strategic programs concentrated on addressing issues on key routes like N4, N12, N14, N18, and other vital roads connecting neighboring provinces. These operations aimed to ensure compliance with motor vehicle and driver regulations, engage in road safety discussions with the general public, and, importantly, identify and address motorists with outstanding traffic fines in the province.

This intensified approach underscores the commitment of the North West Traffic Authorities to create safer roads and promote responsible driving behavior. By targeting problematic routes and addressing compliance issues head-on, they contribute significantly to the overall reduction in road accidents and fatalities, making the region’s roads safer for all.
