NWDC and Premier’s Office Engage Chinese Investors in Rustenburg

The North West Development Corporation (NWDC), in partnership with the Office of the Premier, hosted a Chinese business delegation at Hunter’s Rest Anew Resort, Rustenburg, for a pivotal investment workshop.

Led by NWDC CEO Mr. Mojalefa Nale, the engagement involved the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, represented by project coordinator Mr. Lebo Mokgethi. The workshop aimed to highlight the North West Province’s potential as a gateway for investment into Africa.

Mr. Nale underscored the province’s strategic location bordering Botswana, providing direct access to Namibia and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, and its role as a conduit to the broader African market. He highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as an enabler, giving investors access to a vast consumer market of over 250 million people.

The NWDC CEO outlined the province’s priority sectors for investment:

Energy

Transport

Green Technology Manufacturing

Agro-processing

Eco-Tourism

Health and Life Sciences

Mining opportunities also took center stage, with Mr. Nale stressing the need for local beneficiation of minerals to ensure economic value remains within the province rather than exporting raw materials.

A significant focus of the discussions was the Bojanala Special Economic Zone (SEZ), envisioned as a hub for trade and investment. Both parties explored collaboration opportunities across industries, paving the way for economic growth and mutual benefit.

The engagement underscores the North West Province’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and positioning itself as a key player in Africa’s economic integration.
