Law enforcement agencies across the North West province are out in full force as Operation Basadi intensifies its efforts to ensure community safety during the festive season.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), alongside other law enforcement agencies, gathered for a parade in Potchefstroom ahead of their deployment. Major General Suzette Pretorius, the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Commissioner, addressed the officers, emphasizing the importance of their role in safeguarding communities.
The operation forms part of the Safer Festive Season initiative, which seeks to enhance police visibility and enforce the law across the province. Major General Pretorius highlighted the significance of the collaboration between various agencies in creating a secure environment for residents during the holiday period.
“Our objective is to serve and protect the people of North West. Operation Basadi reinforces our commitment to ensuring that everyone enjoys a safe and peaceful festive season,” said Major General Pretorius.
Operation Basadi, which focuses on empowering women in law enforcement, is also a platform to showcase the critical role female officers play in combating crime. The deployment of officers throughout the province aims to address various crimes, including road safety violations, gender-based violence, and other criminal activities.
Residents are urged to cooperate with law enforcement officials during this period and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The SAPS and its partners are determined to maintain peace and order, ensuring that the festive season remains a joyous occasion for all.
