Orbit College FC Edges Closer to Promotion with Crucial 1-0 Playoff Victory

Orbit College FC took a major step towards promotion to the DStv Premiership after securing a narrow but vital 1-0 victory over Casric Stars in a tense PSL promotional playoff clash at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday – 21 June 2025.

The much-anticipated encounter lived up to expectations, drawing a large crowd of football enthusiasts from across Mpumalanga and beyond. With both teams still in contention for a top-flight berth, the stakes were high — and it showed on the pitch.

The breakthrough came through the second half, when Orbit College player Lethabo Modimoeng found the back of the net in the 80th minute.

Despite several late attempts by Casric Stars to claw their way back into the game, Orbit’s defence held firm.

With the victory, Orbit College FC has positioned itself at the top of the payoffs mini log. A draw or win in their final game will all but secure their historic promotion to the elite division of South African football — a first in the club’s history.
