Orbit College FC could soon return to playing their home games in Rustenburg, following confirmation that floodlight repairs at Olympia Park Stadium will be completed this week.

The club, which recently made its debut in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), was forced to host its opening home fixtures at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto after lighting problems rendered Olympia Park unfit for night matches.

Rustenburg Local Municipality spokesperson, Odirile Madiba, said technicians have been working “around the clock” to resolve the issue.

“We are confident that the floodlights will be fully fixed by 10 September 2025. Once completed, PSL officials will conduct an inspection ahead of Orbit College FC’s next home game against Marumo Gallants on 20 September,” Madiba confirmed.

She added that the municipality is determined to ensure PSL approval, paving the way for Orbit College to host all its future home matches at Olympia Park.

“We are adamant that the PSL will be satisfied with the work done and that Orbit College FC will finally play their matches here in Rustenburg, where the supporters are waiting,” said Madiba.

If the inspection is successful, the fixture against Marumo Gallants will mark Orbit College FC’s long-awaited homecoming, bringing top-flight football back to the mining city.
