Police confirms eight injuries at Rustenburg illegal racing

North West polices says they can only confirm eight injuries during the illegal drag racing incident at Zendeling street, Rustenburg. According to the police, no fatalities were reported.

“We can confirm that police in Rustenburg are investigating a case of reckless and / or negligent driving after a Volkswagen Polo and Mercedes Benz vehicles allegedly collided during an illegal drag racing incident on Zendeling Street on Sunday afternoon, 10 July 2022, in Rustenburg,” said Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.

He said it is alleged that after the collision, the Mercedes-Benz driver lost control and the vehicle hit onlookers as well as the car that was parked on along the street.

Eight people including the driver of the Mercedes-Benz were injured.

Investigation into the matter is underway and no one has been arrested.

No reports of fatalities have been received at this stage.
