The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering a reward of up to R50 000 for any information that could lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of those responsible for a devastating bus fire in Bojanala. Two cases of malicious damage to property were reported in the early hours of Tuesday, 1 October 2024, at two separate Bojanala Bus depots.

It is alleged that six buses at the Chaneng Bus Depot and an additional 17 buses at the Tlaseng Depot were set ablaze, causing damage estimated at R69 million. All 23 buses were completely destroyed, leaving the transport sector in shock and concern over such a deliberate act of arson.

The police are actively investigating the matter and are calling on members of the public to come forward with any information. Captain Johannes Montsho from the Phokeng Detectives Unit is leading the investigation.
