North West Premier, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape has sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased learners of Vyfhoek Primary School near Potchefstroom, who are victims of a mini-truck accident.
Five (5) learners met their untimely tragic death after they were run over by a mini-truck inside their school premises yesterday.
The mini truck is reported to have been traveling from Potchefstroom towards the Johannesburg direction on the N12 road and capsized after a front wheel tyre burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle allegedly went straight through the school fence plunging on learners, killing four (4) on the spot while one died in the ambulance at the scene while the paramedics were still attending to her injuries.
“I have learnt with sadness of the mini-truck accident accident, with five (5) fatalities. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the families of the learners who lost their lives in this accident. It is heartbreaking as a parent to lose a child in this manner.
On behalf of the North West Provincial Government, we send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. We wish them strength during this difficult period” remarked Premier Maape.
Four other learners are in hospital and are being treated for their injuries. Premier Maape wished those admitted at the hospital a speedy recovery.
