The Rustenburg Clean and Safe City Campaign wrapped up its operations on Thursday, having achieved success in its targeted areas. The initiative, led by the Rustenburg Local Municipality, aims to combat crime, illegal activities, and ensure compliance with municipal bylaws across the city.

This multi-stakeholder campaign involves both public and private sectors, including active participation from the South African Police Service (SAPS). Its objectives are to address issues such as unregulated business practices, unlawful building operations, and revenue management, while promoting a safer and more organized urban environment.

Among the notable achievements of operations was the clearance of illegal activities around the city and the busy taxi rank. The campaign targeted unauthorized auto-mechanic services, illegal water and electricity connections, unregulated street hawkers, and violations of parking regulations.

The Rustenburg Local Municipality emphasized that this campaign will continue to address law enforcement issues, ensuring that businesses and residents comply with the city’s regulations for a cleaner and safer urban space.
