Rustenburg’s Mayoral Outreach Continues in Bethanie, Emphasizing Community Priorities

The on-going Rustenburg Local Municipality’s Mayoral Outreach/Imbizo program resumed on Thursday, October 19, 2023, as the community of Bethanie, Modikwe, Barseba in Ward 30 gathered at the Bethanie Tribal Office. The event was marked by the presence of key figures from the Rustenburg Local Municipality, including the esteemed Executive Mayor, Shiela Mabale-Huma, and the Single Whip of the Council, Louisa Mabe. Additionally, members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs) and municipal officials from various directorates lent their support to the program.

The Mayoral Outreach/Imbizo program serves as a vital platform for the Rustenburg Local Municipality to engage directly with the community and listen to their needs, aspirations, and concerns. In attendance were also representatives from the local tribal council, including Mr. Mahuma, Mr. Makutle, Mr. More, Mr. Masika, Mr. Mogomotsi, Mr. Huma, and Mr. Dinatsohle. An apology was conveyed on behalf of the Tribal Council Leader, who was unable to attend due to a bereavement.

The successful engagement between the Municipality and the community resulted in a productive agreement that emphasized prioritizing community needs in alignment with the Integrated Development Plan (IDP). Notably, key issues such as housing infrastructure (RDPs) for those in need were addressed. The Municipality pledged to work diligently on these outstanding matters to improve the living conditions of residents.

Executive Mayor Shiela Mabale-Huma received applause for the municipality’s significant accomplishments, including ongoing and near-completion road infrastructure projects, the development of sporting facilities, and collaboration with the mining industry through their Social and Labour Plans (SLPs). These efforts underscore the commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Rustenburg community.

Mabale-Huma expressed her appreciation for the community’s support and participation in the Mayoral Outreach program. She stated, “This program is a testament to our dedication to serving our community. We value your input and will continue working together to create a brighter future for Rustenburg. While challenges may exist, we are determined to address them and build a prosperous and sustainable future.”

The Rustenburg Local Municipality’s Mayoral Outreach program exemplifies the importance of open dialogue and cooperation between the local government and its citizens. It highlights the collective effort to identify and address community needs, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the region.
